The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched a website, www.nppfailedpromises.com, to assist the Ghanaian electorates to track and fact check what it claims to be the failed promises of the Akufo-Addo-led government.
The NDC argued that in spite of the verbose campaign pledge by then-candidate Akufo-Addo, little has been done in the last three and a half years to fulfill these pledges.
The party, at its weekly press briefing to assess the NPP’s government’s performance on the theme, “Claims, Deception and Reality,” the North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa presenting a detailed analysis of the assessment noted that out of the 631 promises made by the current administration, only 86 have been achieved representing 14 percent.
The NPP government in February 2020 also launched a website, www.delivery.gov.gh, to monitor its manifesto promises.
Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who launched the website in the Ashanti Region revealed at the time that the government had so far achieved 78 per cent of its 388 manifesto promises.
But launching the “NPP failed promises” website, the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa that is inaccurate. Mr Ablakwa insists, government made 631 promises, said deliberately omitted 235 promises which he says the NPP knew could not be achieved, smuggled 8 promises into their manifesto and made 8 “deceptive” promises.
Mr Ablakwa argued that the NPP government does not deserve another term in office for such abysmal performance.
“We have discovered that the 631 promises that we listed, after thorough analysis, combing through documents, what they’ve told us in Parliament, ladies and gentleman, it will shock you to realize that only 86 out of this 631 promise that has been delivered. So the percentage achieved is 14%, not 78%,” he said.
