The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (GNAT) has called out government, concerning their unpaid Book and Research Allowances (BRA) to its members for the 2019/20 academic year.
In a press statement assented to by President of the Committee, Professor Charles Marfo and the Secretary, Dr Eric Abavare, the group said despite ensuring that all requirements imperative to securing the allowance have been put in place, government has not stuck to their end of the deal.
They also mention that continuous attempts to reach authorities in charge have proved futile.
"Consequent to all the efforts by UTAG, which has resulted in nothing beneficial to its members, by this release, UTAG wishes to bring to the attention of government that the Association will advise its members to cease from seeing to any of their functions from Monday, September 14, 2020, if by the close of this set date we have still not been paid the allowances," the statement read.
The NEC of UTAG further states that should further disruption be caused to the next academic year, it should not be blamed.
