The National House of Chiefs has condemned current happenings in the Volta Region and called for a concerted effort to ensure the situation does not get out of hand.
The National Security Minister, Albert Kan-Dapaah, during a crunch meeting with chiefs on Saturday, briefed them on the development of the Togoland secessionist attack.
As it stands, 31 members of the group have been arrested. One of them died following an exchange of gunfire with police.
The meeting comes at the back of an attack in the early hours of Friday at the Aveyime and Mepe Police station in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region claiming a part of the Oti and Volta regions fall within their territory.
The President of the National House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede the fourteenth, called on chiefs from the Volta Region to support the government to ensure that the situation does not escalate any further.
Condemning the act, he noted that the standing committee would issue an open response after the meeting on the happenings in the Volta region.
“This is not something anyone must condone. This is something we should support the government to ensure that it is made in the past so we continue in peace as a Nation of one people with a common destiny”.
