The University Of Ghana School Of Law (UGSoL) has been crowned the first runner-up in the just ended My Intellectual Property Law Guide (MIPLG) virtual debate competition.
The representatives, Dzifa Abotchie-Agbanu, a first-year student and Nana Kweku Bosompem, a second-year student came second to the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
The duo progressed from stage one, the national qualifying stage, to clash with Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Nigeria) in stage two of the competition.
After a resounding victory, the Legon team had to battle it out in the semis, which comprised four other teams from universities like the University of Dodoma (Tanzania) and the Makeni University (Sierra Leone).
The Legon team beat all the four other Universities to secure a spot in the finals
In addition to this feat, Nana Kweku Bosompem was adjudged Best Orator of the virtual debate.
Interestingly, neither had any knowledge of Intellectual Property law prior to their participation in the competition thus making their feat even more commendable.
The MIPLG virtual debate which came off in August - September 2020 featured registered students of African Tertiary Institutions was organised by MIPLG, a leading network of intellectual property and competition law advocates.
