Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), President Akufo-Addo has criticised the unrest in Nigeria that has led to the injury of some of its citizens.
Taking to social media on Wednesday, the President indicated that he is not in support of the reported killings of peaceful protests by security officers in Nigeria.
Violence, be it on the part of the Police or protesters, cannot be the solution. To the families who have lost their loved ones, I express my sincere condolences, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery. 2/2 #EndSARS

He stated that violence can never be the solution to a problem and, therefore, joins the call for a dialogue mechanism to resolve the surge of chaos.
"I join all well-meaning persons in calling for calm and the use of dialogue in resolving the #EndSARS impasse in Nigeria," he stated in a tweet.
The comment from the President comes after several calls to publicly state his discontentment in the current happenings.
President Akufo-Addo mentioned that in an earlier conversation with Nigeria's President Buhari shows that all parties have commenced procedures to end the brutal activities in the country.
"I have spoken with President Buhari, who is committed to this end, and has begun the processes that will lead to reform."
He further expressed his condolences to bereaved families and admonished all to desist from acts of violence in aggravating current issues in the country.
"Violence, be it on the part of the Police or protesters, cannot be the solution. To the families who have lost their loved ones, I express my sincere condolences, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery," he stated.
