The Head of Legal Affairs at the Food and Drugs Authority, Cynthia Dapaah-Ntow, has applied to the high court for an injunction against the airing of the investigative documentary titled 'The Returned Bribe.'

The documentary, which was produced by Manasseh Azure Awuni, revealed that the lawyer negotiated for a bribe of ¢200,000 from the CEO of COA FS, Prof Samuel Ato Duncan.

She later allegedly took ¢600,000, which she returned later with a complaint that the amount was not up to the one negotiated.

Mrs Dapaah-Ntow is asking the court for “interlocutory injuction restraining the defendant/Respondents herein, their workers, privies, assigns, and all who seek to air or circulate the documentary named ‘The Returned Bribe’ or any other related material either in whole or in part on television, radio and or any social media platforms pending the determination of the substantive matter…”

The CEO of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and the head of Legal Affairs are being investigated for allegedly taking bribefrom the manufacturer of COA FS.

Professor Samuel Ato Duncan told investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni that the head of Legal Affairs, Cynthia Dapaah-Ntow, demanded that he pays $100,000 so he will be given the green light to continue selling his product.

In a telephone conversation, Mrs Dapaah Ntow said she was taking the money on behalf of the Authority’s CEO, Delese Mimi Darko.

But the FDA lawyer has contested this while the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) investigates.

Apart from barring The Multimedia Group from airing the documentary on TV, she has also filed a separate suit for defamation.

Three defendants are Manasseh Azure Awuni, the investigative journalist who produced the documentary, The Multimedia Group and Samuel Ato Duncan, the CEO of COA FS.

Upon the advice from the company’s lawyers, management has decided that out of respect for the court, it will hold on with the airing of the documentary until the injunction application is heard on November 24, 2020.
