Over the years, gender representation in Parliament has been one of the discussed issues in the political spheres of Ghana's democracy.
In 2016, the total number of parliamentary seats available were 275.
Out of the total seat, the New Patriotic Party won 169. Out of this 24 seats are held by females.

The National Democratic Congress won 106 seats in parliament. Out of the total seats won, 13 won by females.
In the year 2016, the number of females in Parliament was 37.
From the sixth parliament to the seventh parliament the number of women in parliament has increased by 7.
