Eight shops near the Metro Mass Bus terminal at the Koforidua Central Business District have been razed by fire.
Goods worth millions of Ghana cedis have been destroyed as owners looked on helplessly.

The fire which started on Tuesday morning has destroyed items including pieces of jewellery, soaps, plastic materials, second-hand clothing, toiletries, among others.

Although the cause of the fire is not known yet, some neighbouring shop owners have attributed it to an electrical fault.

Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO1), Ignatius Kwamena Baidoo, the Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) told Joy News that further investigation will be conducted to ascertain the cause of the fire.
