Demonstrations against the declaration of Nana Akufo-Addo as president-elect in the just-ended polls continue to intensify, this time in the Ashanti Region.
It took police water tanks to douse the burning of car tires in protest against what supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party supporters call rigged election.
The protest which started peacefully almost turned confrontational as police attempted to stop protesters from burning tires in the street.
Protesters continued to chant 'No Mahama No Peace' as they marched through the principal streets of Kumasi amid heavy police and military presence.
"We're here to show the world that we are very angry. We're not here to fight anyone. The election was not fair," one of the protestors told JoyNews Sunday.
"Akufo-Addo has overturned democracy, unity and development. We have nowhere to go. He must understand that he lost the election," another NDC supporter lamented while calling on the National Peace Council and religious bodies to intervene.
This forms part of the myriad of protest convened nationwide to drum home the party's concerns.
Others have expressed their displeasure at the election's outcome with some even protesting at the headquarters of the Electoral Commission (EC).
NDC Presidential Candidate, John Mahama has described the verdict as fictionalised to favour the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Meanwhile, some civil society organisations have called on the opposition party to seek redress in court.
