Some sympathisers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday, took to the streets to protest in Lower Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region.
The supporters are backing John Mahama's rejection of the 2020 presidential election results which the Electoral Commission (EC) declared President Akufo-Addo as the winner.
The NDC has since the declaration been protesting the outcome of the polls claiming the EC manipulated the figures in favour of the president.
Clad in red attires, the demonstrators held placards with several inscriptions, mostly chastising the EC and the NPP for rigging the elections.
"Jean Mensa stole the verdict for Nana Akufo-Addo. John Mahama won and so we are taking back our country. The youth is also hungry because the president is doing nothing for us. He cannot help us," she said.
Another protestor vented; "We want Mahama to come back to power once again. We don't want Akufo-Addo."
The protestors in their hundreds were joined by some National and Regional executives at Kpong where they started a procession expected to end at the Odumase Krobo Lorry station.
Simultaneously, a scuffle ensued between the police and some NDC legislators who were walking from Parliament House to present their petition at EC's headquarter back in Accra.
Led by the Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu and the Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak, the legislators were prevented from going beyond a barricade around the Ridge Roundabout in Accra.
The MPs defied the orders of the police who said they were not aware of any walk by the Minority to the EC offices.
Meanwhile, no official from the election management body received the petition as the MPs were held back by the police.
