The MP for Fomena constituency, Andrews Asiamah Amoakoa is expected to present an official letter to indicate which caucus he sides within the 8th Parliament.
According to JoyNews’ Parliamentary Correspondent Jospeh Opku Gapko, the request was made by Speaker Alban Bagbin during a meeting with the Fomena MP and leaders of the NDC and NPP caucuses; Haruna Iddrisu and Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu respectively on January 12.
From information received, the official document from Andrews Asiamah will help decide what caucus holds the majority in Parliament.
Mr Haruna Iddrisu who spoke to JoyNews in Parliament Tuesday stated that a consensus was not reached at the end of the meeting with the Speaker.
"No official indication has been given to us. As far as we are concerned, we have 137 for the NDC, 137 for the NPP.
“We expect that there will be some further communication that will trigger further discussion," he stated.
Meanwhile, the Speaker is expected to hold a follow up meeting today with leaders of the two caucuses and the Fomena MP to resolve pending matters before the House resumes sitting Friday, January 15.
Prior to current events, Andrews Asiamah Amoako revealed that he will join the NPP caucus in Parliament after the just-ended elections.
“The issue regarding what side I join has been discussed already. I have said it time without number that I am a member of the NPP by blood. There is nothing that can change that,” he stated.
