18-year-old, Mohammed Kweku Ayuba, is in critical condition after being shot in the chest by a stray bullet during a shootout between some military officers and persons engaged in illegal wood logging.
According to an eyewitness, Muda Raham, the military officers in a Toyota Hilus with registration number GN 2075-Z were firing bullets while pursuing a Cargo car transporting the woods.
"I saw a Cargo car moving at top speed, I decided to watch it carefully, just then, I saw two soldiers in a Toyota Hilus pickup car firing shots at the Cargo car," he added.
Muda indicated that upon reaching the outskirt of Agona Duakwa the soldiers fired another bullet and in the process shot Ayuba who was walking by the roadside.
"I saw some young men walking by the roadside, in a twinkle of an eye, one of the boys shouted, just then I saw him lying on the ground due to the gunshot by the soldiers.
"God being so good, a man in his private car helped us convey the wounded boy to the hospital," he said.
Meanwhile, brother to the victim Kweku Adamu says his brother is receiving treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
"I heard gunshots but I thought it was the sound of a vehicle. I heard the sound a second time and decided to go to the roadside.
"That was when I saw Ayuba with blood oozing from his chest," he revealed.
