Secretary-General of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), Bawah Fuseini is contesting for the position of Deputy Secretary-General of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), in the upcoming elections.
GOC goes to polls on March 15, 2021, to elect new leaders to steer the Olympic Committee.
The GOC executives had requested an extension of the mandate to lead the country to the Tokyo Olympic Games, but it was shot down at an extraordinary congress, paving way for interested candidates to contest for various positions.
Bawah, who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) for the West Africa Zone, believes, his experience from working at the highest level, will serve the total good of the GOC.
"I believe we all have a role to play for the total good of sports in Ghana," Bawah tells Joy Sports.
"I have worked as an administrator for many years and have risen to become the CEO of the West Africa zone for Africa athletics.
"The experience I have gained all these years will be meaningless if I cannot bring it to the table to help GOC, which is the body responsible for our Olympic games, then I have not been fair to what sports, especially athletics has given me."
Bawa is confident delegates of the Olympic Committee will allow him to serve.
"I think my CV speaks for me, but delegates have shown that I can contribute to the course of the GOC. I am here to support the President and Secretary-General to unearth the potential in Ghana Olympic Family, and I am certain they will let me serve," he said.
Bawa Fuseini's opposition to the Deputy General post, is President of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation, Jerry Ahmed Sheib.
The GOC Presidential position will be vied for by incumbent, Ben Nunoo Mensah, with his Secretary-General, Richard Akpokavi, his opponent.
