The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) is demanding a thorough investigation into a road traffic violation incident by the driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser on Thursday, April 15.
JoyNews, in its efforts to curb road accidents on April 15, sighted a Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle registered GM-2152-16, veer off its lane to avoid traffic congestion and drove towards Giffard Road in Accra.
The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) in the letter to the MTTD Director-General on the matter stated that their preliminary investigation revealed the car belongs to the Ghana Cocoa Board.

Re-affirming this report, Chief Executive of COCOBOD, Joseph Boahen Aidoo in a press statement dated April 21, indicated that the Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle belongs to the company.
The letter revealed that the vehicle was assigned to the “Eastern Regional Director of Ghana Highways Authority (GHA) in December 2016 as part of the arrangements between COCOBOD and GHA for inspection, monitoring and supervision of roads under the Cocoa Roads Project in that Region.”

In view of this, the Ghana Cocoa Board is requesting for sanctions against the said driver for veering unto a wrong lane of the dualized Giffard road and coming face-to-face with on-coming motorists.
“Ghana Cocoa Board by this letter, requests for a thorough investigation into this accident and demands punitive action against the perpetrator to serve as a deterrent to all motorists on our roads.
“We count on your support in this exercise,” portions of the statement read.
