The government has been urged to integrate its digitisation efforts to allow for the smooth running of operations among government agencies.
Key government institutions including the Births and Death Registry, Ports and Harbours Authority, and the Passport Office have digitised many of their operations.
But despite progress made, IT expert and CEO of Tenth Generations Technology Systems, Tony Ntiador says for the move to yield the desired result, all public agencies must first digitize their operation then data should be integrated to allow multiple agencies to work seamlessly within the space.
“Different organisation in this country are embarking on small level automation without thinking of the bigger picture of how it is connected to everything else.
“Passport Office has automated how relevant is their data to Lands Commission and any other government agency, so you don’t have to go to different interrelated agencies to process a document, with just one click everything ought to be,” he said.
Tony Ntiador was speaking on the sidelines of a round table meeting to discuss the government’s digitisation agenda.
On the fight against illegal mining, the IT expert proposed that the government takes advantage of artificial intelligence to spot and subsequently apprehend those involved in the heinous act.
“Technology can tell you through satellite imagery where illegal mining is ongoing and how long it will take for security operatives.”
