Isaac Dogboe took another step towards his dream of a second world title after beating Adam Lopez via a majority decision in Las Vegas.
In a very close fight, the former WBO Super Bantamweight world champion got the victory on the judges scorecard to make it two wins in his last two fights.
Dave Moretti scored it 95-95, while Don Trella and Chris Migliore scored it 97-93 and 96-94 respectively for Dogboe.
The Ghanaian was in the ring for the second time after back-to-back losses to Emmanuel Navarrete in 2018 and 2019, defeats which cost him the WBO super bantamweight strap.
He defeated Chris Avalos via an eighth-round TKO in July 2020 in his last fight.
Dogboe started on the front foot and shot ahead on the scorecards but questions were asked of his conditioning as he fizzled out and allowed Lopez into the fight from the sixth round.
The fight was up for grabs by the tenth and final round as both corners reminded the two boxers of how close the 9 rounds had been.
The Compubox numbers suggests Lopez threw more punches (527 to 487) and landed more (152 to 134)- 29% to Dogboe's 28%.
Dogboe, however, did more with body punches (31 to 25) and that coupled with his volume of activity in the early rounds was enough to convince the two judges.
