Co-founder of Leti Arts, a video game company, based in Ghana and Kenya, Eyram Tawia, believes Africa can compete with the western world by producing competitive video games.

According to him, the gaming industry has the ability to catapult Africa to be at par with the whites.

The African story, to Eyram Tawia, can be told in another way through meaningful games and digital comics, hence, the reason for establishing the company to gain the needed audience.

Speaking in an interview on Prime Morning, Tuesday, Mr Tawia, who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of Leti Arts, highlighted that although Ghana has excellent programmers, it lacks game developers, which he wants to tackle well and address.

He added that the country has what it takes to move the gaming industry to a higher pedigree and generate revenue from that sector as well.

"Producing a game is a capital-intensive process. They [whites] have the rich resources and the talents. Ghana has excellent programmers, but we do not have game developers, so you need to take the existing programmers and add the right brain to them.

"We have excellent artists, but they are not game artists; when you come to the gaming industry, the artists have to make artwork and work with the hardware, but the hardware has limitations," he bemoaned.

Eyram Tawia entreated his colleagues to strive to attain world-class status to gain greater recognition for what they do.
