The Design and Technology Institute (DTI) in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC)-Ghana has organised a multi-stakeholder dialogue to commence the development of a national policy for precision quality training in Ghana.
The meeting which brought together over 150 stakeholders including industry experts, policymakers, and academics was themed, ‘Unlocking the skills and competencies of young people for quality jobs in Ghana and the globalized labour market’.
Speaking at the dialogue, the Employment Minister, Ignatius Baffour-Awuah stated that one sure way to facilitate the development agenda of the nation is to have a highly skilled and strongly motivated labour force.

“The widespread adoption of precision quality in training and practice will greatly contribute to the value addition of the Ghanaian labour force and raise the quality of local products and services to international standards,” he said.
The conference highlighted the need for a National Precision Quality (PQ) policy to unlock thousands of sustainable jobs and work opportunities for young Ghanaians while integrating the CTVET accredited Precision Quality curriculum into the learning outcomes of TVET education, senior high schools, and workshops of master craft persons, ensuring standardisation across the board.

The DTI Chief Executive, Constance Elizabeth Swaniker expressed delight in the overwhelming support that both public and private sectors have given to the concept.
She noted that the Institute will “continue to engage with all policymakers and stakeholders in our collective effort to support the national agenda in addressing the skills gap challenge facing academia and industry.”
