Promoting Ghanaian entertainment globally is a critical factor for the creative arts sector. One artiste who seems to be on the right course is Reggae and Dancehall musician Stonebwoy.
Born Livingston Etse Satekla, the musician has over the years worked with numerous international artistes from all over the world.
President of the Bhim Nation, as his fan base is called, has often blended the Jamaican sound and Patois (English-based creole language spoken primarily in Jamaica) in his music.
He has also worked with some of the biggest artistes in that country, namely Sean Paul, Morgan Heritage and Jamaican dancehall deejay Beenie Man.
It comes as no surprise that Stonebwoy is loved in Jamaica; according to Big Mountain's lead vocalist Quino, "I am tied in with things going on in Jamaica, and Jamaica loves him; it's nice to see."
He also added he is a fan of his even though he hasn't met the artiste, "Stonebwoy is the big shot right now, and I still haven't met him. I'm a fan of his."
Quino is a member of Legendary 90's American reggae band Big Mountain based in California.
The Band is in the country to be part of the Ray of Hope Global Youth Project, which seeks to help underprivileged Ghanaian youth.
The initiative will consist of a donation of 5000 pairs of shoes to school children in identified communities, then the Ray of Hope Concert on September 23, at +233 Jazz Bar & Grill, Ridge and a five-hour duration world-class virtual musical concert on September 25, featuring Taj Weekes from Saint Lucia and other legendary Reggae artistes from the United States, Mexico, Jamaica, Saint Lucia and Ghana.
