Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Frederick Acheampong is upbeat about Ghana's chances of beating in-form Nigeria in the final round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The two continental giants were paired up during Saturday's draw in Douala, Cameroon.
Ghana need to see off their West African neighbours to guarantee a spot at the 2022 Qatar global showpiece later this year in November.
Both countries have been eliminated at the ongoing AFCON 2021 but it is Ghana who packed their bags the earliest after they failed to win a match at the tourney - two defeats and a draw to Morocco, Comoros and Gabon respectively.
Nigeria got booted out on Sunday by Tunisia following a lone goal from Youssef Msakni despite their flawless group stage campaign.
"Everybody would think it will be an easy pass for Nigeria. Nigeria will beat Ghana but the World Cup is a different ball game altogether", Fred Acheampong told JoySports.
"I remember what happened in 2006. Ghana disappointed in the AFCON but we went to Germany to make Africa proud. Football is just full of uncertainties. Anything is possible but to me, I think that Ghana, we shall qualify," the former AshantiGold CEO confidently said.
The Black Stars remain keen to qualify for the mundial after missing out on the previous edition in Russia.
