The Professional and Managerial Staff Union of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (PMSU-ICU) of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) has given their Managing Director, a five-day ultimatum to retract an accusation he is reported to have made against the workers.
Mr. Provencal is reported to have accused some BOST workers of being the brains behind the laying of a number of wreaths bearing his name at the entrance of the Head Office in Accra.
According to Mr. Provencal, the act was committed by the workers to protest his anti-corruption policies.
But his utterances have been highly criticised by the Staff Union.
While condemning the wreath-laying incident in a statement dated February 9, the Union asked Mr. Provencal to retract his assertion and apologise in five days.
“Such loose comments and unsubstantiated allegations have the potential of hurting the professional reputation and careers of all BOST workers.
“The MD has the option of providing evidence to support such allegation or retracting and apologizing forthwith,” parts of the statement read.

They cautioned that should the MD fail to meet their request in five working days, the Union will employ “other means available to it, to defend and protect the reputation of all staff who have worked day and night to achieve BOST's corporate goals.”
Meanwhile, the person who laid the wreath on Monday is yet to be identified. The Union said, "we send a note of caution to whoever is behind this unwholesome death-wishing behaviour, trying to create bad publicity for BOST, its Management and to tarnish the image of all workers, to stand well."
