The Wa Magistrate Court presided over by Maxwell Maxbrain Titiriku has remanded the 61-year-old suspected gunman in the shooting incident at Wa for the second time.
Yunusah Abdul Rahman, on March 17, allegedly shot indiscriminately and killed two people, injured three others and destroyed the windscreens of an articulator trailer in a busy street over a parcel of land; the victims had no connection to.
He was arrested and arraigned before the Wa District Magistrate Court the following day and was charged with two counts of murder and three counts of causing harm.
Police prosecutor ASP John Badu prayed the court to remand him further to enable them to conclude investigations into the case.
The presiding judge granted his plea, and the suspect was remanded to reappear on April 14, 2022.
Meanwhile, families of two persons who were allegedly killed by stray bullets in last Thursday’s shooting incident in Wa over a disputed parcel of land have indicated that they seek nothing but justice for their loss.
Speaking after a visit by members of the Upper West Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to commiserate with victims' families, spokesperson for the family of the late Stephen Langton Mane, Frank Yen, demanded that justice be served.
“What we are just asking for, is just like your speaker rightly said, is justice, nothing more, nothing less. We are in pain, and we don’t see why we should be in this situation within this time of our life,” he said.
