The Ghana Armed Forces have presented assorted items and cash of ¢5000 to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu to complement this year’s Ramadan festivities.
The items include; cartons of bottled water, bags of rice, cartons of soft drinks, gallons of cooking oil and two rams.
The Armed Forces sent a delegation to the residence of the Chief Imam on Tuesday, led by Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice-Admiral Seth Amoama, and the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu, and other high-ranking senior officers to make the presentation.
The delegation also used the opportunity to wish the Chief Imam a belated 103rd birthday.
In a brief address during the donation, Vice-Admiral Amoama said the GAF honoured the role Sheikh Sharubutu continues to play in the country's peace-building efforts.
Receiving the items, Sheikh Sharubutu expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the visit and presentation and prayed to Allah to continue to grant the GAF's leadership the knowledge they need to carry out their mission.
He also prayed for the nation's peace to be preserved and for Allah to bestow wisdom on those in charge.
Sheikh Sharubutu further urged the GAF to remain a beacon of hope in the country's political architecture.
According to him, he is of the hopes that the CDS and his team would be able to carry out their duties all the time so that the country would continue to be peaceful.
