The Islamic Girls' Development Foundation (IGDF) put smiles on the faces of some Muslim students in Wesley Girls Senior High School in Cape Coast during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
This was done through the presentation of assorted food items, including quick-to-make beverages, instant oatmeal, nutritious protein bars, and other breakfast items.
A Facebook post by Foundation added that arrangements were made to provide the students with iftar meals throughout the month of Ramadan.
"We were also able to give them a buffet-style lunch on Eid day. All these were done quietly and largely within the rules, and that is what we have been advocating for. Even though the directive from GES on students being allowed to go home for Eid prayers was not adhered to at Kakumdo, our girls still managed to perform their prayers without raising any eyebrows.
"The issue is not as complicated as it is being portrayed. If this feat can be achieved by the grace of Allah, without the chaos, we believe our girls can be accommodated without any problem. All this has been possible most importantly by the grace and mercy of Allah," the post said.
According to the Foundation, some benevolent donors contributed largely to the organisation of the event.
The Minority Chief Whip, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, is said to have donated ¢5,000 and also facilitated a ¢10,000 donation from Japan Motors through the National Muslim Conference.
"We are truly grateful for all the support and donations we received. We would like to entreat all to keep the donations coming since our plan is to expand nationwide to accommodate any Muslim girl or group of girls who want to join the IGDF Mentorship programme.
"Together, we can change the narrative and give a true meaning to religious tolerance in Ghana, insha Allah," the Foundation stated.
