Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and his daughter, Ohemaa Afia Kobi Ampem, on Friday morning joined dignitaries to plant trees to mark this year's Green Ghana project.
The dignitaries were; the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, Mayor of Kumasi, Sam Pyne and other District and Municipal Chief Executives Executives.
The Lands Ministry says over 20 million trees, both commercial and economic trees would be planted nationwide to reduce the impact of climate change.

The exercise is being spearheaded by the Forestry Commission.

Before the symbolic tree planting exercise in Kumasi, Asantehene, in the company of her daughter, Ohemaa Afia Kobi Ampem and other dignitaries inspected similar trees planted in previous years.

Among the trees inspected were one planted by the late Asantehemaa, mother of Asantehene before her demise and a Mahogany tree the Asantehene and his daughter, Ohemaa Afia Kobi Ampem planted in 2021.

An elated Asantehene could not hide his emotions as he admired the tree planted in memory of his late mum.
