A Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) graduate has won the first-ever St. Antony DAC Scholarship.
Samira Mohammed Ibn Moro, by attaining this step, will get the opportunity to study MSc in African Studies at the University of Oxford, UK.
Born and bred in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, in a culture that is entrenched in patriarchy, Miss Moro seeks to bring change with the course she’s about to study.
“I then reckoned that I needed a deeper understanding of diverse factors peculiar to the African continent as in that were the holistic, pragmatic solutions for gender inequalities and other important issues in Africa.
“Earning a Master's degree in African Studies from Oxford University will broaden my scope in understanding the intricacies of African politics, history, general geopolitics, and the processes involved in negotiating collective actions for global responses to existing or emerging challenges in Africa,” she explained.
For attaining this feet, Miss Ibn Moro expressed her appreciation.
"It’s surreal and overwhelming at the same time. I believe it is my a testament of the fact that so much is possible. I believe this is an inspiration particularly to many young girls out there that dreams do come true and hard work pays off. I am looking forward to giving my best and coming out successful."
