The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council and the Ministry of Education have inaugurated a five-member committee to investigate disturbances at the Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational Institute.
The committee is expected to help establish the cause of the riot by the students and also put cost to damage caused on the campus.
The committee’s recommendations, to be submitted in two weeks, will also be important to ending student rioting in the school.
Justice Samuel Obeng Diawuo, Justice of the Court of Appeal will chair the committee.

Other members include Rt. Rev. Nuh Ben Abubekr, Retired Methodist Bishop; Mr. David Adu-Osei, Retired Regional Commander of NIB; and Mr. Richard Addo Gyamfi, Acting Ashanti Regional Director, Ghana TVET Service.
Former Principal of Kumasi Technical Institute, Dr. Abeiku Apprey, will also serve on the committee.
Chief Director of the Regional Coordinating Council, Mrs. Emelia Ayebeng Botchway, will serve as secretary to the committee.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah reminded members of the committee of the disturbances at the school which has generated public interest due to the level of destruction, hence the need to end such behaviors of students.
He expressed confidence in the committee’s work, indicating members are from varied relevant backgrounds to aid in unravelling the cause of the riot.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the committee, Justice Samuel Obeng Diawuo, has assured that thorough work will be done.
