President Akufo-Addo has accepted the resignation from office, with immediate effect, of Ebenezer Kojo Kum, as Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Director of Communication at the presidency, Eugene Arhin on Friday.
According to the release, “This was after Hon. Ebenezer Kojo Kum submitted his letter of resignation to the President on Friday, 3rd February 2023. President Akufo-Addo thanked him for his services to the Government and to the country, and wished him well in his future endeavours.”

Meanwhile, the President has asked the Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Dan Botwe, “to act as caretaker Minister at the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, until a substantive replacement is made.”
Although the reason for the resignation was not stated, it would be recalled that Mr. Ebenezer Kojo Kum, who is Member of Parliament for Ahanta West, suffered a stroke in 2022.
“Kojo Kum suffered stroke but he is not dead…He is very well. About three weeks ago, he fell sick and was admitted to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for two weeks until he got better and was discharged.
“Currently, he is home and getting better. As I speak to you, he can eat, talk and do everything as expected but he is still recovering,” the family's lawyer, Joe Mensah stated to dispel rumours of his death.
