The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards’ board has revoked the nomination of musician Jay Bahd for the 2023 edition.
In a press release, the board noted that during the one-week provisional window for addressing errors and omissions, the board stated that it was brought to their attention that the nomination is one of the errors the scheme made.

They noted that it was highlighted to them that Jay Bahd was not new to the VGMA scheme and thus cannot be nominated under that category.
“After deliberations, the Board agrees that Jay Bahd is not new to the scheme, because of his shared nomination on Yaw Tog's 'Sore' for Collaboration of the Year in 2021. This means he's not eligible as a nominee for the Best New Artiste category of the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.”

“The error has been corrected, and Jay Bahd and his team have been informed accordingly. The inconvenience is deeply regretted,” they added.
The rapper was nominated for the 2023 Best New Artiste award. He was competing with Lasmid, Djay, Malcom Nuna, Ewuraabena, Dj Azonto and Chief One.
Meanwhile, the board said they are grateful to the people who submitted their concerns stating that this would pave way for a more robust scheme.
“Do note that grand finale of the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is now slated for the 6th of May, 2023. The event will come off at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.”
