A freshly graduated medical doctor from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Dr Nathaniel Nii Codjoe, has expressed his enthusiasm for contributing to stroke management in Ghana.
Dr Codjoe, who swept away 16 out of the 22 awards presented at UCC’s 55th Congregation on March 30, said in an interview on JoyNews that he believes there was still much that could be done to enhance stroke management in the country.
Thus, in order for him to be able to fulfil his wish of contributing to the course, he was considering specialising in Neurology.

“At the moment, I'm considering neurology for now. Hopefully, by the time I complete my housemanship, things will be much clearer.
"But for now, I'm considering neurology. And I'm doing that because I have the passion to contribute to stroke management in the country because I believe that there's a lot that I can still be done with respect to stroke management,” he told the host, Bernice Abu-Baidoo Lansah on Friday.
The aspirational young physician also disclosed that it was his hope to establish a facility that would be specifically designed to cater for patients living with stroke.
Moreover, he added that the centre would also train personnel to enable them to be well-versed in the management of stroke patients in order to lessen the complications that health personnel face in their field of work.
Dr Codjoe was adjudged the best student in Medical Biochemistry, Physiology, Microbiology, Community Medicine, Chemical Pathology, and Pharmacology.
He also won awards for Best Clinical Student, Best Graduating Pre-Clinical Student, Overall Performance, Best Student in Family Medicine, and Molecular Medicine with Certificate awards.
The other awards were: Best Student in MB ChB Final Part II, and Best Student in Ear, Nose, and Throat Rotation.
