A member of the New Patriotic Party Communications Team, Kwesi Botchway Junior has said that men who are abusive do not deserve to be with women.
His comments come at the advent of the alleged shooting of 26-year-old Victoria Dapaah, also known as Maadwoa, by her police boyfriend multiple times in the abdomen and chest on April 20, 2023.
The emotionally traumatised Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, also known as Tycoon, who appeared before the Asokore Mampong District Court told the court that the lady owed him an amount of GH¢5,000 which she had reportedly refused to settle.
The accused Inspector also mentioned to the court that he had no intention of killing his lover.
Inspector Ahmed Twumasi’s case is not exceptional, as there has been an increasing rate of abuse in relationships and marriages in recent times, of which women are mostly the victims.
Speaking on Prime Morning on Wednesday, Kwesi Botchway stated that the majority of men deliberately cause the acts.
"I want to use this opportunity to tell all young ladies out there that if you’re in a relationship with anybody and the person is abusing you, please leave. The relationship is not worth it. No abusive man deserves a woman," he said.
More frequently than not, people accused of murder plead insanity as a justification for their crime.
Regarding the murder of the 26-year-old in Kumasi, Kwesi Botchway thinks the policeman’s actions were deliberate, and he urged people to stop supporting such defence.
“This person was not sick in the mind. It was a deliberate act. That is why we just read that what happened was between him and his court,” he argued.
Meanwhile, the inspector is being charged with murder after shooting his girlfriend multiple times on Thursday, April 20, 2023.
