Afropop star KiDi has returned with new music after taking a break due to undisclosed health issues.
In the new song, titled ‘I Lied’ the singer/songwriter opened up about having to hide his illness and putting on a smile in public while suffering alone.
KiDi noted that he stayed strong with the help of his mother and closed ones.
He urged the general public to remember him in their prayers than to wait for his death to mourn.
“If I show you my liver, you go take me to prayer…Don’t wait till I’m under, 6 feet I’m gone…And dem go tell you he was strong…Dem go sing my songs…Make nobody call my phone…I’ve always been on my own.”
Background
The ‘Adiepena’ hitmaker, in February, cancelled his North American tour which was expected to come off in March 2023.
The artiste was expected to tour about 10 cities in the US, including Seattle, Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago and Atlanta. In Canada, he was booked to perform in Toronto.
Announcing to his fans why the tour was cancelled, KiDi noted that the decision was inevitable due to some health issues – but he did not elaborate.
This led to speculations about his health with some people spreading rumours that he was suffering from a stroke.
Lynx Entertainment Richie Mensah, however, dismissed the rumours calling the claims clickbait.
In April, KiDi returned to social media months after taking a break and in his first post the singer/songwriter said he appreciated the love and support he felt from fans, family and all who reached out after he fell ill.

KiDi noted that their actions and concerns comforted him in the “difficult period” adding he is thankful to everyone.
