Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings has won the bid to once again contest in the 2024 parliamentary elections on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress.
Dr Agyeman-Rawlings won with an overwhelming number of votes. She polled 1,194 votes.
Her opponents Meredith Naa Odarkai Lamptey Addy and Nii John Alfonso Coleman polled 268 and 360 votes respectively.
This would be the Korle Klottey MP’s third time winning the parliamentary primaries in her constituency.
Speaking after her victory, Dr Agyeman-Rawlings thanked the delegates who recognised her zeal to work and the track record of all she has done for the constituency.
She stated that it is humbling and encouraging the delegates have faith in her to lead the constituency.
“It is a reminder not to get complacent, we have a lot of work ahead of us and so this is just a way to ginger us and keep moving and send a signal that we are ready for 2024,” Dr Agyeman-Rawlings noted.
Meanwhile, the flagbearer contest at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries appears to go according to plan for former President John Dramani Mahama.
Emerging provisional results so far suggest a landslide victory against his opponent, Kojo Bonsu.
Kojo Bonsu has already conceded defeat to former President Mahama ahead of official declarations.
In a Facebook post, the former mayor of Kumasi said he has called John Mahama to congratulate him on his landslide victory in the presidential primaries.
While the party is yet to officially announce polling results, John Mahama’s side is predicting at least a 98% win in the election.
