Residents of some communities in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region have breathed a sigh of relief following the construction of several mechanized borehole water systems for them to reduce the water challenge in the area.
The new water facilities in Alavanyo Wudidi, Alavanyo Dzogbedze, Gbi Avega, Fodome Hloma, Wli Afegame and Gbledi Chebi communities which were commissioned by the MCE for Hohoe, Daniel Noble Awume, will help end the acute water crisis in the communities which has lingered on for decades
The MCE, Daniel Awume at the commissioning in the respective communities said the Hohoe Municipal Assembly and the government is very committed to bringing developmental projects to the various communities.

Mr Awume noted that the Hohoe Municipal Assembly while initiating new projects intends to complete and maintain older projects to ensure they continue to benefit the communities.
Mr Awume urged residents to ensure a well-managed system to help the Assembly do more of such projects in the communities. He added that the Assembly is committed to making sure that it gives the needed support to the communities in the Municipality to help tackle issues related to education , sanitation and, health.
The Assembly man for Fodome Gledi electoral area, Thompson Adoboe was grateful to the Assembly for the projects and asked that more should be brought to the communities.

He noted the communities had for years lacked potable water, forcing them to walk long distances to neighboring communities in search of water. “Residents here mostly struggle to get water for several decades. They relied on streams and other sources of water for domestic use for decades,“ he said.
He appealed to other philanthropic organizations and the government for more water facilities and other social amenities to be brought to the area.
He expressed appreciation to the donors for financing the project, which would prevent them from contracting water-borne diseases.

Some residents in the respective communities have expressed joy and gratitude for the good gesture of the government and the Assembly to provide them with good drinking water after several decades of yearning for it.
Other projects like classrooms blocks and toilet facilities were also commissioned in other communities in the Municipality.
