Right to Dream Academy successfully defended their Gothia Cup title following a 2-1 win over Swedish side AIF FF on Saturday, July 22.
The Ghana-based academy left it late to clinch the trophy for the fifth time in a row after success in the last four editions.
Right to Dream took the lead in the game before being pegged back minutes later in a keenly-contested game.
However, a late header from a corner was all it required for the Ghanaian side to see off the Swedish team and win the competition once again.
A 2-1 victory after full-time means Right to Dream have now won the competition for the seventh time in their history.
They won the competition for the first time in 2014 and successfully defended it in 2015. They won it three times on the bounce between 2017 and 2019 before laying their hands on it again in 2022.
The competition was not held in 2020 and 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic hence Right to Dream have been successful in the last five editions and seven in all out of the nine editions they have participated.
Right to Dream scored 18 goals in the six games in the Cup competition and conceded only twice throughout.
They beat Landskrona Bois, Fredrikstad FootballKlubb, IF Elfsborg, Cerezo Osaka and Mjallby AIF en route to the final.
