The Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, has been elected as the parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party in the Ledzokuku constituency.
In a total of 1,635 valid votes cast, Dr. Okoe Boye emerged with a substantial lead, amassing 902 votes.
Collins Nii Ashitey Ollenu secured the second position with 354 votes, followed by Clifford Martey in third place with 199 votes. Ibrahim Adjei, a presidential staffer, came in fourth with 180 votes.
Before the announcement of his victory, Dr. Okoe Boye and his supporters were captured jubilating in the constituency.
In an interview with JoyNews following his triumph, Mr. Okoe Boye expressed his commitment to completing the work he had initiated before losing the seat in 2020.
"As I speak, I was able to lobby and push for the completion of the LEKMA road, but other roads within the community are in very poor condition. After closely observing for the past two years, I couldn't wait to become a candidate. I have already approached urban roads and brought in a contractor to work on the roads.

"No community will receive attention unless you have a leader who is very active and can sit next to technocrats, making a strong case. This is why I am here — to ensure that this community is transformed."
Meanwhile, one of his contenders, Clifford Martey Korley, has conceded defeat and called for unity ahead of the 2024 general elections.
