The Head of Corporate Affairs and External Relations at Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF), Kojo Frempong has won the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the Wenchi constituency.
He secured 361 votes and his competitor Albert Ameyaw followed closely with 336.
After his victory, Mr Frempong talked about his forward-looking vision for Wenchi, emphasising collaboration with fellow contenders.
In an interview with JoyNews, he acknowledged the exhaustive nature of the campaign and expressed gratitude to his supporters and those who offered prayers throughout the journey.
“I am grateful to everyone who supported me and offered their prayers. It's been a long journey, and thankfully, we're here,” he stated, reflecting on the challenging campaign.
Notably, Mr Frempong extended appreciation to his competitors, recognising their innovation, tactical acumen, and strategic thinking throughout the campaign.
He specifically mentioned Albert Ameyaw and Alfred Ofori, acknowledging their political prowess and hinting at promising political futures for both.
“I think that together, we have a set of men who can set Wenchi ablaze and do some incredible things for this constituency in the future," he said.
Looking ahead, the newly elected parliamentary candidate expressed optimism about collaborating with his competitors to advance the shared agenda of securing a victory for the NPP in Wenchi in the 2024 elections.
“So I am looking forward to coming together with them and prosecuting the agenda, which is to win the 2024 general elections ultimately for NPP in Wenchi,” he noted emphasising a united front for the party's success in the upcoming elections.
