Unilever’s ever-popular family bar soap brand, Geisha, has been awarded the “Most Outstanding Brand Supporting Women Empowerment” at the recent Women’s Choice Awards Africa. This award is in recognition of the firm's commitment to championing gender equality and creating inclusive spaces.
The award citation commended Unilever for its “exemplary commitment, impactful initiatives, and unwavering support for women's empowerment”. It also acknowledged that Unilever’s efforts have not only elevated its brand but also made a meaningful and lasting impact on women's empowerment globally.
“We are immensely proud of this recognition,” said Judy Adda, Geisha Soap Brand Manager at Unilever. “This year, Geisha has once more stood solidly behind women, and as a brand, we have celebrated the strength and resilience of women at all stages of life in all socioeconomic classes. Our slogan, 'Olastaama', reiterates our promise that the soap lasts and lasts like a mother's love. Ultimately, this confirms our belief in the enduring spirit of women.'”
As part of Geisha’s demonstration of support for women, the brand in March held a summit in conjunction with the Multimedia Group on International Women’s Day, bringing together accomplished women from a variety of fields, as well as young girls who were there to be inspired by the achievements of those who have gone ahead of them.
Also, Geisha honoured mothers in their places of worship with product hampers on Mother’s Day in May. The brand’s campaigns and initiatives have consistently echoed its commitment to empowering women and contributing to social advancement.
In October, Geisha supported female employees and the wives of male Unilever employees to undertake free mammogram tests. This was a big part of the brand’s activities during Brest Cancer Awareness Month.
“This award is a testament to our dedication to empowering women and creating a more equitable world,” Adda continued.
“We aim to encourage other brands to actively contribute to the cause of social progress and look forward to the challenge of leading by example. In 2024, the brand will continue to support all Ghanaian women across the country in the key moments that matter in our lives.”
Award-winning Geisha soap is known for its long-lasting properties. It comes in a variety of fragrances as well as sizes of 90g, 180g, and 250g for everyone in the family. For decades, it has been a favourite in Ghanaian households, a brand that young and old have used, and passed down through generations.
