Former Navrongo MP Mark Owen Woyongo has passed away.
The Woyongo family, in a press statement issued on Thursday, January 18, said he died on Wednesday, January 17, at the Bank of Ghana Hospital.
"The head of the Woyongo Family, Mr. Awini Zinge of Nayagnia–Navrongo, wishes to announce with deep sorrow the death of their beloved son and brother, Hon. Mark Owen Woyongo.
"The sad event occurred on Wednesday, 17th January 2024 at the Bank of Ghana Hospital," an excerpt of the statement said.
His wife, Cecilia Wuni Woyongo, survives him.
After losing the 2016 election, Mark Woyongo retired from politics.
Mark Woyongo, who served as the Interior Minister, recently laid his son, Kenneth Kwotua, to rest at the age of 49.
He had previously represented Navrongo in Parliament and was also the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Tamale-based Diamond FM.
