Ningo Prampram MP Sam George says he had evidence contrary to the claims by the National Sports Authority (NSA) that Stonebwoy paid GH₵ 70,000 to use the Accra Sports Stadium for his BHIM Concert in 2023.
Speaking on JoyFM’s Top Story, the MP revealed that the ‘Therapy’ hitmaker paid GH₵169,000 to use the stadium in December.
He told the host Evans Mensah that the money was paid in three installments by Burniton Music Group for the concert.
“During my questioning (at the PAC meeting) I had evidence of GH₵70,000 Ghana cities being paid by the Burniton Music Group representatives of Stonebwoy for his Fifth Dimension concert.
"I asked the Director-General (Peter Twumasi) if GH₵70,000 had been paid to the accounts for that event and he confirmed that yes, GH₵70,000.”
“I asked him if it was sufficient for the return of the pitch, or any damages to the pitch, but he did not answer. But post the event, I have now gotten the contract that the NSA signed with the Burniton Music Group and I've gotten receipts of payment.”
“It was not GH₵70,000. It was GH₵169,000. But it was paid in three instalments - GH₵70,000, GH₵70,000 and GH₵29,000.
"And the Director General is literally before the parliamentary select committee under oath, confirming I was GH₵70,000.”
Sam George noted that this among other activities at the NSA has influenced him to support the call for investigations into the authority by the PAC Chairman James Avesdzi Klutse.
He stated that the investigations should be done “not just by the auditor general, but even the office of special prosecutor.”
Meanwhile, the manager of Ghanaian artiste Stonebwoy, Chief Abiola, has corroborated Sam George’s claim that the musician paid more than GH₵70,000 to the National Sports Authority.
