Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, says he owes a lot to Ghana when it comes to his comedy career.
The comedian revealed that one of the biggest break he had in stand up comedy was in Ghana.
According to him, he is always drawn to Ghana because of the love he’s received since the beginning of his career.
In an exclusive interview with JoyNews’ Becky, Basketmouth said ‘I love coming out here, you guys don’t know it yet but I owe a lot to Ghana. One of my biggest performance that actually broke me out to the rest of the world happened in Ghana and I’ve never forgot that."
"After that I’ve done - some public and private gigs - I’ve seen the love. I have experienced it and you can’t take things like that for granted."
Basketmouth said that he is appreciative of the fact that Ghanians still patronise his events even after years of hosting them over and over again.
"It’s nothing but humbling for me and I love the feeling," he said.
The Nigerian comedian and actor over the years has hosted popular stand-up comedy concerts like Basketmouth Uncensored.
In 2005 and 2006, Basketmouth won the National Comedy Award and the awards for Best Stand-up Comedian of the Year.
He was nominated in the 2021 maiden edition of The Humour Awards Academy alongside fellow comedian, Mr Funny.
