Gospel artiste Scott Evans believes he doesn’t deserve any recognition in the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) this year.
According to him, although he had been nominated for an award, his time is not yet set for him to win any.
Speaking with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, he said: “It is not my set time to win the TGMA Gospel Artist of the Year and Gospel Song of the Year and I love to be honest with myself. Everything takes resources and honesty.”
“The year under review, my songs did amazing but there are songs which did amazing than mine. There were artistes that became dominant and it was so clear. It is self-tickling so I said to myself, it’s not my time to win any of those awards but I will win when my time comes”.
He clarified his statement was not a means to look down on himself, but rather build up confidence.
“I don’t think I am belittling myself with my statement but it deals with confidence. If I am not confident with what I have, I wouldn’t be able to appreciate others”, he stated.
He further stated that self-doubt is the reason most artistes cannot thrive in the industry.
“I am doing well but someone else is doing better than me. If I say I am going to push my shoulders up, then I have an inferiority complex and I don’t trust myself. If you are an artiste and you are not able to do that, then you are destroying yourself”, he said on Hitz FM.
