Ghanaian chef Ebenezer Smith has apologised for the controversies surrounding his so-called Guinness World Records attempt.
In what looked like a heartfelt public apology in an interview with GHOne Television, the man who claims to have been named by GWR as the new cook-a-thon record holder, asked for forgiveness amid tears.
Chef Smith, on Tuesday, July 2, announced to the media at a press conference that he is the new cook-a-thon record holder adducing as proof a certificate.
However, the Guinness World Records in a reply to a mail sent by Joy FM's Kwame Dadzie, indicated that Chef Smith's assertion is false.
The enquiry was necessitated by doubts about the authenticity of Chef Smith's certificate and the unavailability of posts by the Guinness World Records, confirming his supposed feat.
The suspicion was deepened further after reports emerged that he had been arrested by some persons who allegedly sponsored the event.
According to GWR, they were not even aware of his so-called attempt as he did not notify them or send them any videos of the supposed cooking for 802 hours and 25 minutes.
This generated many conversations in mainstream and social media. But Chef Smith has finally come clean on the matter.
In the interview, Chef Smith expressed deep remorse and pleaded for forgiveness from the entire nation.
“I render a very big apology on this platform and I apologise to the world that I am so sorry. I am sorry, I beg the entire nation to forgive me,” Chef Smith stated.
