The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it's committed to constructing sports stadia across all regions of Ghana.
The party in its 2024 elections manifesto launched on Saturday, vowed to significantly enhance sports infrastructure, promote talent development across regions, and ensure equitable support for all national teams.
Point three of the NDC sports development said it will "pursue our long-standing policy of establishing international standard stadia in all regions."
Aside from building new stadia, the already existing facilities which appear not fit for purpose will be refurbished.
"Undertake emergency refurbishment of pitches, tracks and other facilities at our national stadia in Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Cape Coast and Sekondi to meet FIFA standards."
In 2018, the current government started the construction of 10 multipurpose youth resource centres across the country, and the NDC has pledged to "build more multi-purpose sports facilities to promote regional sporting events and inter-school competitions as part of our talent development policy."
The NDC's manifesto also addresses the issue of fairness in sports funding and development. The party has committed to "ensure equitable investments in other national teams, such as women’s football teams, parasports teams, juvenile teams, and lesser-known sports."
