Legendary Ghanaian gospel musician, Esther Smith, has admonished aspiring gospel musicians to create their songs with the word of God in focus than thrive on fame.
In a recent interview on Joy Prime’s morning show, she stated that some of the current generation of musicians have deviated from the purpose of gospel music.
“I always say that gospel music is not showoff. You’re ministering Christ the anointed one,” she said.
The songstress emphasised that individuals who have decided to do gospel music need to be serious with their craft.
She further explained how she is able to affect people with her music.
“Even when I’m recording in the studio, I do it as if I’m ministering to thousands of people at that moment in a way that if someone is going through heart pains and hears the song that tells he or she to have faith in God for healing grace, then it means that whenever you’re going to the studio, the motive behind the song also counts,” she said.
The ‘Gye No Di’ singer stressed that consistency in meditating the word of God injects power into the songs because the gift has already been granted. Therefore, it is incumbent upon individual gospel singers to utilise it properly.
However, she acknowledged the efforts of some gospel artistes in promoting the gospel, revealing that she had met a young worshipper who sang her song in a way that touched her so much she decided to include him on her coming show.
Esther Smith further stated that the character and attitude of the singer during a stage performance determine whether or not the person has the God’s kingdom business at heart.
Despite being a shy person, she developed boldness after reading a portion of the Bible that empowered her.
The ‘Maye Nhyira’ hitmaker is calling on the public to join her concert, Esther Smith Live In Concert, on Friday, August 30 at Perez Dome, as she delivers all her power-packed songs for all to be blessed.
