The Director of Communications and Spokesperson for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's presidential campaign, Denis Miracle Aboagye, has expressed scepticism about the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) call for a "reset" in Ghana.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Newsfile, Mr Aboagye challenged the NDC to clarify their vision for the country, questioning what the proposed reset would entail.

“Dr Bawumia is very clear, his manifesto is simply consolidating what we have achieved as a country and fixing what is outstanding,” he said, defending the Vice President's approach to governance.

Mr Aboagye emphasised that a reset, in technological terms, implies two main options: wiping everything clean or resetting to a previous state.

“Anybody who understands technology and understands reset will tell you that when you are resetting you have only two options. The first option is reset to factory settings which is basically wiping everything off the equipment. The second option is to reset to a particular period depending on when you backed up,” he explained.

In view of this, the spokesperson argued that the NDC needs to be transparent about its plans for the country, suggesting that the public deserves to know the specifics of their proposed reset.

“So for the NDC not to hoodwink us and mislead us, one of the things that is missing which they need to tell us so that we can interrogate is that where are you resetting us to?” he questioned.

Referencing an earlier statement by Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC's National Communications Officer who said his party would do away with the broken system and rebuild a new one for the country, Mr Aboagye concluded that they intend to return Ghana to a "factory setting".

This state, he believes, is not in the country’s best interest.

“And from what Sammy Gyamfi is saying, all I hear is that they intend to reset to factory settings. And this is because he made a statement that when you have a broken system you wipe it all off and start afresh. But that is not what Ghana needs. Ghana needs a consolidation and an upgrade,” he stressed.

As Ghana gears up for the 2024 elections, political parties have outlined their visions for the future of Ghana.

While the NDC has called for a fundamental reset, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) under Dr Bawumia’s leadership is advocating for upgrading existing achievements and addressing ongoing challenges.
