“There are so many ways to kill a cat”, is a Ghanaian street proverb that literally means there are various ways of addressing one’s worries.
The saying comes in handy in this socially charged atmosphere of various campaigns in Ghana, especially #StopGalamseyNow protests and the ensuing #FreeTheCitizens due to unlawful arrests and detainment of protestors.
Apart from marches, petitions and dialogues, music is another way to voice out a people’s concerns about social issues and the need for change for a better Ghana. In this light, Joy FM’s Kofi Hayford, dedicated his entire show on radio to the fight against Galamsey.
The show (The Overdrive) which aired on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, treated listeners in Ghana and beyond to 20 songs that speak against illegal mining popularly known as ‘Galamsey’ in Ghana, unlawful arrests of citizens, corruption and other social problems that plague the citizens of this nation.
Below are the 20 songs that were played on the midweek edition of The Overdrive this week:

Stonebwoy - Greedy Men, Peter Tosh - Downpresser Man, Bob Marley - Get Up, Stonebwoy - Run Go, Bob Marley - Babylon System, Trigmatic - Where we dey go, Worlasi - How Many Times, Stonebwoy - Suit and Tie, Stonebwoy - Savage, Shatta Wale - Too Much Chemical, Stonebwoy - Black People, Bob Marley - Crazy Baldheads, Buju Banton - Destiny, Max Romeo - Stealing in the name of the Lord, Amandzeba - Wogbejeke, DSL - Truth, Okyerema - Adekye Nsromma, Afriyie Wutah - Country Hot, Epixode - Wahala Dey, Obrafour - Ntetee Pa
