Construction has resumed at the Buduburam road site weeks after a tragic rock-blasting accident claimed several lives and caused extensive property damage.
The incident, which occurred on October 14, had sparked widespread concerns about safety at the construction site, leading to a temporary halt in operations.
In response to the accident, project authorities have implemented stricter safety protocols.
A project supervisor, who chose to remain anonymous during an interview with Citi FM, revealed that staff have undergone additional safety training aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future.
Alongside the training, advanced monitoring systems have been installed at the site. These systems are designed to provide real-time oversight during operations, ensuring that any potential risks are detected early and addressed promptly.
Workers at the construction site have expressed confidence in the new safety measures. Many believe that the steps taken by management are thorough enough to guarantee a safer working environment moving forward.
With these changes in place, both staff and local residents are hopeful that the project can continue without further incidents, allowing for the completion of the much-needed roadworks in the area.
