The Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Omane Boamah, has criticised the Economic Management Team led by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, for what he described as poor economic management.
According to him, the NPP's claim of having the best economic management team is a figment of their imagination.
Addressing residents of Tafo in the Eastern Region during a community engagement, the former Communications Minister said the country’s economic situation has continued to worsen under the Vice President.
“And they want to tell us that they have a solid team? A solid team indeed—solid team, my foot!” he questioned.
Dr Boamah further described Dr Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, as a ‘theoretical economist’ who does not understand the current economic crisis facing the country.
“An economist who supervises inflation soaring to 54%—is that an economist? An economist who allows Ghana’s exchange rate to skyrocket, with one dollar reaching 17 cedis—is that an economist? An economist who oversees the national debt climbing from 102 billion to over 700 billion— is that an economist? An economist who supervises bondholders being given dual haircuts, with the most treasured, stable, and secure investments now at risk— is that an economist?” he quizzed.
He went on to say that it is time for the country to make a change, replacing the NPP with John Mahama and the NDC.
“And so, going into the 2024 elections, just three weeks and three days from now, we need a man with experience—John Dramani Mahama. We need the visionary John Mahama to come and reset our nation, to come and save our nation, to create the needed jobs, to save you from the hardship you are facing, and to save you from the rising fuel prices,” he explained.
