Two police officers are part of five new suspects arrested in connection with the biggest police enlistment fraud that hit the country over the weekend.
Director of Police Public Relations DCOP David Ampah Benin named Richard Harrison, 30, Constable Ruth Agyiri with the Central Police Station in Koforidua and Corporal Gideon Sarpong with the Takoradi Police as key suspects in the fraud.
The other suspects include Amos Brown, a radio presenter with Silver Radio at Takoradi and Pastor Paul Danso from Tarkwa.
Joy News' Derrick Ekow Sam who attended the police's press conference reported that Harrison collected GHS 4,200 from a victim with the assurance of facilitating the recruitment of a relative into the police service.
Sarpong and Adjiri were also said to have taken different amounts of money from their victims with the same assurances.
Over two hundred people simultaneously trooped to five of the country's Police Regional Training Schools after receiving fictitious admission letters with forged signatures.
The victims who appeared at the training schools with their trunks and other personal effects were left in complete shock when they learnt the police administration had not officially begun the enlistment process.
They were said to have paid varying sums of money to the middle men.
The police administration was alarmed by the incident and caused an investigation into the fraud.
The investigation is headed by DCOP Bright Oduro.
The Police said it has suspended the sale of police forms to the public while investigation continue.
